Speed hump installation begins Friday

Speed hump installation begins tomorrow in four locations throughout the neighborhood

Last fall it was proposed that we add speed humps in high traffic areas around the Copperfield Townhomes. After delays due to covid and scheduling, they will be installed starting tomorrow.

Construction details

  • Construction will last several hours on Friday, August 21st and it will block one side of the road.
  • You will be able to drive around the construction.
  • The other side of the speed humps will be added on September 1st
  • The speed humps can not be painted until mid September when the concrete is completely cured.

Why do we need speed humps?

  • The HOA Board receives numerous complaints of speeding through the neighborhood.
  • Speed humps are a proven method of slowing traffic and are very common in residential areas surrounding Copperfield.
  • Vehicles can pass over speed humps with minimal disturbance and can safely maintain speeds of 15–20 miles per hour.
  • This is an extension of the existing speed humps on Coppertowne and Brittania Way that were installed several years ago by the Condominium HOA.

How was this decision made?

  • Presentation and discussions at three HOA Board meetings.
  • Exhaustive research and conversations with the City of Dallas and Dallas Police.
  • Copperfield HOA Board approved installation of speed humps in February 2020.

How much does this cost?

  • Copperfield Townhome HOA funds were NOT used for this project.
  • Funding for the speed humps was provided by private donations.

Where will the speed humps be placed?
Speed humps will not be in front of anyone’s driveway and will not block fire hydrants.
See photos below for the four locations:

  • Coppertowne between the bridge and Brittania Way
  • Coppertowne adjacent to the cabana near Coppertowne Court
  • Brittania Way between the east and west entrances to Barnaby
  • Britannia Way between Township and Brittania Court

Thanks much and please drive safely!
